Short-Term Service or Immersion Programs
(Including Summer Programs)
The first set of listings is for faith-based service opportunities and most of these are offered at minimal cost to participants.
Claretian Summer Ministry Program (Chicago):The summer ministry program is designed to help one discover a deeper sense of his or her vocation. By providing an experience of community and ministry as well as times to reflect on and integrate that experience, we try to help one grow towards a greater understanding of one's self. The program is not intended to promote any specific vocation. Rather, it provides a chance to experience a lifestyle of service which is the basis for many options that each of us has as we seek our own calling. Applications due by April 30th. For more information call 312-236-7846. For more information you can also visit: www.claret.org
Franciscans
for the Poor (Ohio): This
program offers long and short term volunteer opportunities through ministry
at soup kitchens, shelters, social service centers, retirement centers,
AIDS service and tutoring. The program requires an orientation and assigns
the site in which everyone will participate in service. They also offer
opportunities to reflect, share, and expand on one’s experiences
through groups and prayer. Their purpose is to allow the volunteers to
have their experiences
renew their faith and peace.
