SAVAGE
(PREREQUISITES: POSC 152, JR/SR STATUS)
This upper-level elective will examine the interpretation of the Constitution
by the United States Supreme Court through a detailed, extensive analysis
of Supreme Court cases. The topics will include judicial review, selected
amendments from the Bill of Rights, presidential and congressional powers,
the role of government in the economy, and the 14th Amendment. Students
will be taught how to prepare briefs for cases. Writing and analyzing briefs
is an essential skill for law school.
Regular and punctual attendance is expected. After being taught how
to prepare briefs, students are expected to prepare briefs for the classes
for which they are due. Such preparation is necessary for class discussion
and for the quizzes that will be given based on the reading assignments
in the briefs.
