417 LAB ACTIVITY 1B: Determining Meeting Times

WHY:

This activity will give you practice using a spreadsheet and transferring information between Windows applications. We will be working with these applications extensively throughout the course. Facility integrating spreadsheet data into reports will almost certainly be necessary for success in your career.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  1. Practice constructing a worksheet in Quattro Pro.
  2. Review process for incorporating spreadsheet data into a report.
  3. Discover times when the team can meet outside of class.

PERFORMANCE CRITERIA:

  1. Quality of the answers to the Critical Thinking Questions.
  2. Successful construction and integration of time conflict worksheet.

RESOURCES:

  1. Your class schedules;
  2. Module E;
  3. Quattro Pro for Windows Help and Coaches;
  4. 30 minutes

PLAN:

  1. Choose roles if you have not already done so.
  2. Prepare a chart in Quattro Pro for Windows which lists the hours of the day and the days of the week including evening hours.
  3. Indicate by placing initials in each time block where the members of your team have class or work conflicts. Include my initials for my conflicts.
  4. When the worksheet is complete copy it to your Word Perfect report from the last activity.
  5. Using your chart, propose in the final conclusion section of your report times that your group can meet among themselves and with me or the project owners.

  2. What is the easiest way to transfer work from one window to another? If you have done this before in what context did you do it?









    SKILL EXERCISES:

    1. Each group member should get into E-mail and set up a group address in your personal address folder for the other group members plus myself (psmith). Then send a short message to the group.
