ADD/DROP - SECTION CHANGE INSTRUCTIONS
Drop/Add on PRISM
Upperclass students are elibigle to drop/add
on PRISM until the end of the add period. NOTE: At
the beginning of a semester, students must first Enroll on PRISM before
they can drop or add. Paper
Form Procedures for Drop/Add
All First Year students, courses
with time conflicts or max enrollment overrides must be
processed by the registrar's office, the Academic Affairs/First
Year Studies office, or the student's
academic department using the procedures
below.
- Obtain the appropriate Add, Drop or Section
Change Form from the registrar's office. Complete the form
and make sure all information is legible on the last copy.

- Report to your advisor for approval (signature) to drop or
add. (The student's advisor's name (for upperclassmen) is available in
PRISM, Student Records Menu, View Student Information; First
year students, new transfer students, and students with undeclared
majors request approval from the Academic Affairs/First Year Studies Office
in 121
Le Mans.)
- Report to the chairperson in the department offering the
course.
a. ADD: If you are adding the course
and the chairperson authorizes the add, he/she will add your name to
the class list
and sign the form. The last day to add a class is Wednesday,
the 8th class day; see the academic
calendar for the specific date.
For a course that begins later in the semester, students have
up to 5 days after the class begins to add the course.
b. DROP: If you are dropping the
course, the chairperson will delete your name from the class list and
sign
the form.
The last day to drop is Friday of the 5th week of classes;
see the academic calendar for the specific date.
c. SECTION CHANGE: If you are changing sections and
the chairperson approves your change, he/she will delete your name
from one section
and add your name to the new class list and sign the form. Section
changes do not require your advisor's signature.
PASS/FAIL (Instructions)
- Students should be aware of the guidelines regarding taking
a course pass/fail that are listed in the Academic
Regulations.
- Obtain the appropriate Pass/Fail Approval Form from
the registrar's office. Complete the form and make sure all information
is legible on the last copy. (The Pass/Fail Approval Form
will not add a student to a class. The class must be registered
for at advance or pre-registration, or during the Drop/Add period.)
- Students must have approval from Academic Affairs and First Year
Studies AND the
student's major advisor.
- The last day to change a course to pass/fail isFriday, the 10th
class day; see the academic calendar for the specific date.

PERMISSION TO AUDIT (Instructions)
- Obtain the appropriate Official Audit Permit Form
from the registrar's office. Be sure to read the guidelines printed
on the form regarding the implications of taking a course as
an audit. Complete the form and make sure all information is
legible on the last copy. The last day to change a course to
audit is Friday the 10th class day; see the academic
calendar for the specific date.
- Students must obtain the permission (signature) of the instructor
to audit.

SUBMITTING FORMS
Return all forms to the registrar's
office, 161 Le Mans by the appropriate deadlines . Students must
first Enroll before any drop, add , audit, pass-fail, or section change
can be processed. Do
not leave forms with advisors.
