What is the Saint Mary's College Microsoft Campus Agreement?
Saint Mary's College has had a Microsoft Campus Agreement since the fall of 2007. This agreement allows students to purchase a single copy of Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Edition Upgrade, Microsoft Office 2007 for Windows, and Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac for only $10 each!
All Saint Mary's Students classifed as full-time or part-time are eligible for the Microsoft Campus Agreement for Student Users. Students who are enrolled at another institution as their primary location for studies (University of Notre Dame, Holy Cross College, Indiana University, Bethel College) are not eligible for this program.
Students must show their Saint Mary's ID card at the time of purchase to verify their eligibility for this program. Purchases will be charged to students' accounts.
Saint Mary's Students are permitted one copy of each version of software available through the Microsoft Campus Agreement to install on their personal computer. Students may not purchase additional copies of media, even if the original media was lost or damaged. (Media that was discovered to be damaged at the time of purchase may be returned for a replacement.) If a student lost her media, she would be responsible for purchasing a new copy of the software at retail price ($259 for Windows Vista Ultimate Edition Upgrade, $499 for Office Professional 2007 for Windows, $399 for Office 2008 Standard for Mac).
Saint Mary's Students may purchase upgrades to the software they have already purchased. For example, if a student purchased a copy of Microsoft Office and a new version of Microsoft Office was released and made available through the Microsoft Campus Agreement, the student would be eligible to purchase the new version.
Saint Mary's Students are responsible for checking their computer to make sure it is compatible with the software they purchase through the Microsoft Campus Agreement. The software requirements are listed above. Microsoft offers a Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor (also listed above) students can download and run on their computers to make sure they are capable of running Windows Vista Ultimate Edition, the Windows operating system that is offered through the Microsoft Campus Agreement. (ResNet recommends purchasing a computer that has Windows Vista Ultimate Edition or Business Edition already installed on it to ensure compatibility.)
Students wishing to receive assistance with installing software they purchase through the Microsoft Campus Agreement can contact the ResNet Office. The ResNet Office can assist with Microsoft Office installations. Students are responsible for backing up their own data and upgrading their own operating systems. The ResNet Office can guide students through the process of upgrading their computer, and can guide students through backing up data, but cannot complete the upgrade or backup process for students.
The ResNet Office is located at 102 Haggar College Center. The hours for the ResNet Office are posted at http://www.saintmarys.edu/resnet/. The ResNet Office is not open during fall and spring breaks, midsemester and summer vacations, and other times during the academic year when classes are not in session.
