How do I update my virus definition files when I am not connected to ResNet?
My Windows computer is telling me that my virus protection software is out of date. I have the McAfee VirusScan software that Saint Mary's provided installed on my computer. How can I fix this problem?Virus definition files are updates for virus protection software to keep your virus protection software current and able to detect all of the latest computer viruses. Virus definition files for Windows computers running McAfee VirusScan are released daily.
These instructions are for Windows computers running McAfee VirusScan version 4.51 or later. Computers that are using the Saint Mary's-provided versions of McAfee VirusScan should automatically update their virus definition files when you are connected to the Internet. These instructions are to manually update your virus definition files to make sure you have the latest virus protection available.
Note: These instructions will allow your computer to update its virus definition files from both on and off campus. You can manually update your computer's virus definitions and it will still attempt to automatically update in the future.
Restart your computer.
You may wish to scan your computer for viruses now that it has the latest virus definitions installed.
