To empty the trash in ZMail Zimbra immediately:

    1. Visit https://webmail.saintmarys.edu and log in.
    2. Click on the Trash folder in the left column (it has a trash can icon).
    3. Empty the trash immediately by right-clicking on the Trash folder and choosing Empty Trash. (If you are using a Mac with a one-button mouse, hitting the Control key on your keyboard and clicking will give you the same option to Empty Trash.)

Important note: Messages sent to the trash will automatically be deleted from your account after ten days. Do not store messages you wish to keep in the Trash folder!

To delete multiple messages in ZMail Zimbra, moving them to the trash:

    1. Visit https://webmail.saintmarys.edu and log in.
    2. ZMail should open to your inbox. If necessary, navigate to the folder with messages you wish to delete.
    3. Select the multiple messages you wish to delete by clicking on the first message you wish to delete, then holding the Shift key, then clicking on the last message you wish to delete. (To delete a single message, simply select the one message you wish to delete.)
    4. Hit the Delete key on your keyboard.
    5. The messages will be moved to your trash.

Important note: This process only works if there are multiple messages in a row you wish to delete. All of the messages that you select will be moved to the Trash.

There is no consistent way to delete messages that are not consecutive. Holding down the Control key on some web browsers may let you select non-consecutive messages, but that feature does not work in all versions of Firefox.
