Tosha Smith receives 2nd place award from NCSA President Kent Schwirian

Six sociology majors were able to travel to the North Central Sociological Association's annual meeting thanks to travel grants provided by both Alpha Kappa Delta and the SMC Student Government. Five of the six students presented their senior comprehensive research projects.

Congratulations to Tosha Smith whose paper "The Children Left Behind: An Analysis of Standardized Testing in Indiana" won 2nd place in the 2005 NCSA Undergraduate Paper Competition. Also of note was the special talk on "Teaching Reflections: Sociology and Social Justice" given by Susan Alexander as the recipient of the 2004 Distinguished Contributions to Teaching Award winner.
