Strategic Area I
Educate women to make a difference in a complex world
A Saint Mary's education prepares women for life and leadership. Rooted
in our Catholic heritage, we educate women in the intellectual and moral
values of the Catholic tradition.
Application of knowledge and skills is dependent upon developing habits
of thought and action that are both knowledge and value based. Information
technology is changing the way in which people learn to communicate and
function in their daily lives. Diversity issues require particular attention
as we better integrate learning from wider sources of knowledge. Critical
thinking and problem solving remain requisite skills. Our strategic goals
include preparation to excel in an information-based, increasingly complex
world.
Our curricular efforts will continue to foster a dynamic relationship
between teaching and learning. We challenge students to grow as thinkers
and leaders: women committed to making a difference in the world.
