Diversity Task Force

Responsibilities:
1. Area I: Educate women to make a difference in a complex world:
Initiative 1: Examine and Renew the current state of General
Education
Action:
1.3: Infuse diversity throughout the curriculum
2. Area III: Recruit, retain, and graduate a diverse student body
that ensures the College's leadership in women's education.
Initiative 3: Develop a student body with a wide variety of backgrounds,
interests, capabilities, and life experiences
Action:
3.1 Increase enrollment of historically underrepresented students,
including international students.
3. Area IV: Develop and focus resources to advance the mission of
Saint Mary's College.
Initiative 2: Develop a comprehensive plan to achieve adequate
number and distribution of staff for all departments of the College

It is anticipated that this task force will need to create
subgroups to address the various diversity issues, rather than attempting
to deal with all the issues as a single group, but will coordinate the
final recommendations to the appropriate bodies.

Guidelines:
The task force should include a representative from:
The Curriculum Committee (either faculty or administration)
The Enrollment Management Advisory Committee
The Division of Student Affairs
The task force and all the subgroups must contain representation from
all three of our major constituencies - students, faculty, and administration/staff
The Executive Committee of the Faculty Assembly should be consulted
regarding selection of faculty members (who are not designated representatives
from specific committees).
Subgroups addressing diversity issues pertinent to the curriculum
Must include the representative from the Curriculum Committee
Must include representation from all three of our major constituencies,
but must contain a majority representation of faculty.
Subgroups addressing the diversity of the student body
Must include the representatives from EMAC, the Student Diversity
Board, and the Division of Student Affairs
Subgroups addressing the diversity of our faculty, staff, and administration
Must include the Director of Human Resources
Must include equal representation of faculty and of staff/administration
