Vision to Guide the Strategic Planning Process

 

Adhering to its Catholic and Holy Cross heritage since 1844, the College strives to remain faithful to its mission by continually assessing its response to the complex needs and challenges of the contemporary world. In the current process, the College strategic plan was guided by the following expectations:

  • Continue to be an excellent, mission-driven center of higher education for women
  • Continue to be a pioneer in women’s education, thus fully honoring the long tradition of leadership that has characterized the College
  • Strengthen its Catholic identity
  • Continue to increase the number of students, faculty, and staff of diverse backgrounds
  • Build a learning community committed to the whole growth of students
  • Develop an integrated curriculum in general education
  • Enhance the strengths of all academic departments
  • Develop education throughout the college for a multi-cultural world
  • Strengthen its commitment to social justice and service

Within the context of these expectations, the plan was based on the assumptions that the College will:

  • Remain a Catholic women’s college
  • Continue its commitment to liberal arts as the focal point of education
  • Achieve a sustainable enrollment goal
  • Continue to focus on traditional, undergraduate, residential students
  • Continue to focus on traditional, undergraduate, residential students
  • Increase the percentage of students living on campus
  • Maintain fiscal stability
  • Increase the endowment to reduce dependency on tuition in the operating budget process
  • Increase unrestricted gifts each year
  • Raise funds to continue implementation of the facilities master plan
