Saint Mary's Finishes in Third at MIAA Championships; O'Brien Claims Season Medalist Honors, Gore Honored

BATTLE CREEK, MI – The Saint Mary's golf team fired a final round 348 to finish with a two-round total of 697 to place third at the MIAA Championships at Bedford Valley Country Club. Olivet won the Championships with a two-day total of 665 while Lindsey Pipkin, also from Olivet, took medalist honors at the event with a 163 (84-79).

Leading the way for the Belles was Katie O'Brien who posted a two-day total of 168 (85-83) to finish tied for third. In addition to O'Brien's effort for the Belles, Emily Gore fired a 175 (87-88) while Rosie O' Conner tallied a 177 (88-89). Perri Hamma also recorded a 177 (89-88) and Michelle Hird’s 182 (91-91) rounded out the scorers for the Belles.

Competing as individuals, Meredith Fantom shot a 176 (90-86) while Amanda Mainstone fired a 184 (92-92).

The Championships are a culmination of five rounds during the MIAA fall season. For the season the Belles finished the third as well and Olivet won the season title.

O'Brien took season medalist honors with a scoring average of 80.25 beating out Hope’s Julie Hoogerhyde average of 80.50. O’Brien is the fourth Saint Mary’s golfer in the last five years to claim league medalist honors.

In addition to O’Brien earning end of season honors, Gore earned Second-Team MIAA accolades.
