Hinton, Durkin Post Hat Tricks in Saint Mary’s Victory

October 16, 2007, ANGOLA, IN – Lauren Hinton and Katy Durkin both tallied a hat trick in Saint Mary’s 8-2 win over Tri-State Tuesday afternoon in MIAA soccer action.

The win lifts the Belles record to 7-3-4 overall and 3-2-2 in league play while Tri-State drops to 0-12-2 and 0-5 respectively.

Saint Mary’s scored the first three goals of the game and never looked back in posting the victory. Durkin scored goals in the 10th and 19th minute while Julia Gragtmans sandwiched a goal in between with one in the 16th minute.

Tri-State got on the board with a Jackie Havenaar penalty kick goal in the 29th minute. Hinton posted her first goal in the 35th minute but Amy Ramiller responded with a goal in the same minute for the Thunder to end a wild opening frame.

Durkin completed her hat trick off a pass from Sarah Dubree just 2:09 into the second half. Hinton topped off her hat trick with goals in the 62nd and 63rd minute for the Belles. Lauren Eaton ended the highest scoring game of the year for Saint Mary’s with a goal in the 85th minute.

Saint Mary’s posted a season high 49 total shots of which 29 were on goal. The Belles tallied an 11-0 edge in corner kicks.
