October 20, 2007, BLOOMINGTON, IL – The Saint Mary’s soccer team posted their fifth tie of the season with a 1-1 decision against Illinois Wesleyan in a non-conference match-up
After the contest the Belles record now stands at 7-3-5 while Illinois Wesleyan moves to 7-7-2.
The Belles got on the board first when Mandy Thomson found the back of the net off a rebound from her essential shot in the 41st minute. However, the Titans quickly responded when with 44 second left in the opening half Caroline Leighton blasted a shot from 30 yards out to score what proved to be the final goal of the afternoon.
Illinois Wesleyan tallied a 23-10 edge in overall shots and a 14-4 advantage in shots on goal. The Titans also has a 7-2 edge in corner kicks.
Amy Mahoney made a season high 13 saves for Saint Mary’s.
The Belles regular season concludes this Wednesday afternoon with a trip to Alma for a 4:00 p.m. MIAA contest.
