SMC at MIAA Championship
Saint Mary’s Posts School Best Finish; Gray Sets School Record
October 24, 2007, ALBION, MI – At the MIAA Cross Country Championships on Saturday morning, Saint Mary’s posted a school best finish of fourth place with 99 team points. The previous best finish in College history was a fifth place finish during the 2006 season.
Calvin won the event with 19 points with Christina Overbeck, also from Calvin, winning the individual title with a time of 22:03.
Megan Gray ran the 6K course in a school record 22:18 to place second overall in the race. In addition to her finish, Gray earned First-Team MIAA honors for the second straight season. The native of New Carlisle, Ind., was the only runner not from Calvin to finish in the top eight.
Samantha Wieczorek was the Belles second finisher with a time of 25:19 which was good enough to finish 22nd overall. Catie Salyer (25:23) and Megan McClowry (25:28) finished 23rd and 25th respectively while Stephanie Waite rounded out the top five for Saint Mary’s, running the event in 25:48 and finishing 27th.
