Volleyball - Calvin Ends Saint Mary’ Season in Semifinals
November 2, 2007, GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Top seeded Calvin used a balance offensive attack to aid in their 3-0 (30-18, 30-23, 30-23) MIAA Tournament semifinal victory over Saint Mary’s on Friday evening.
Calvin, the nation’s 16th ranked team, advances to the finals of the tournament as they raised their record to 28-4 while Saint Mary’s season ends with a 13-18 mark.
Four different Calvin players had at least seven kills. As a team the Knights offense posted a .234 hitting percentage. Molly Krikke had 16 kills and a .304 hitting percentage to lead the Knights attack. Kristen Kalb chipped in 11 kills. Kim Wigboldy (eight) and Sara Kramer (seven) rounded out the top kill producers for Calvin.
Leading the ways for the Belles was Lorna Slupcyznski who had eight kills and 10 digs. Kaela Hellmann added in seven kills and 10 digs.
Amanda David notched 23 assists and 10 digs while fellow senior Marisa Gross tallied nine digs in their final match in a Belles uniform.
