Soccer- Higgins Named to MIAA Second-Team

November 9, 2007, NOTRE DAME, IN – Senior defender Justine Higgins was named to the MIAA Second-Team All-Conference squad at the annual coaches meeting on Thursday afternoon. It is the first time that Higgins has garnered All-Conference honors.

The native of Naperville, Ill., helped Saint Mary’s post six shutouts and hold the opposition to a 1.17 goals against average. Belle opponents were held to 6.5 shots on a goal per game.

Higgins started 15 of the 16 games she played in. On offense she posted her best game of the season in the Belles come from behind win over Kalamazoo on Sept. 22 when she scored the game winning goal with 10 minutes left in the contest. She registered a season high fives shots, three of which were on goal, in the victory.

The Belles finished the year with a 7-5-5 overall record with a 3-3-2 mark in league games.
