Cross Country - Gray Finishes Stellar Campaign at NCAA Championships

November 17, 2007, NORTHFIELD, MN – Megan Gray finished her historic 2007 season at the NCAA Division III National Championships by running the 6K event in 22:21 to finish 38th overall at the Skoglund Athletic Fields hosted by St. Olaf College.

Gray just missed out on earning All-American status with that honor going to the top 35 runners.

Sarah Zerzan of Willamette repeated as the individual event winner with a time of 20:54. There were 280 runners competing in the event. Amhearst won the team title with 120 points in a field with 32 teams. Fellow MIAA member, Calvin, finished fourth overall with 199 points.

Last weekend at the Great Lakes Regional Championships, Gray (New Carlisle, IN/New Prairie HS) ran the 6K course in 21:48 to place fourth overall and earn the individual bid to the National Championship race.

It is the second consecutive year that Gray competed in the National Championships. In last season’s event in West Chester, OH she placed 133rd overall with a time of 25:14.

During the season she set the Saint Mary’s record in both the 5K and 6K races. On Oct. 13 she ran the Manchester Invitational 5K course in 18:26 en route to winning the individual title in that race. Her time at the Great Lakes Regional Championships two weeks ago is the school record for a 6K course.
