Belles Win One, Drop Another

FORT MYERS, FL – During their second day of spring break action, the Saint Mary’s softball team knocked off Worcester Polytechnic Institute 8-0 in the morning but dropped a 5-3 decision to Dominican in the day’s second game.

Saint Mary’s record now stands at 2-2.

In the opening game Saint Mary’s pounded out 10 hits led by a foursome of players with two hits each. Leading the way was McKenna Corrigan who went 2-for-3 with three RBI’s. Katie Rashid also tallied two hits in addition to driving in two runs and scoring another. Ashley Fusaro chipped in a pair of hits and scored twice. Maureen Healy chipped in a 2-for-4 effort.

Calli Davison went six innings to pick up the win. She struck out six and allowed four hits.

Dominican was able to silence the Belles offense just enough to produce the 5-3 win. Saint Mary’s posted a seven hit attack led by Davison’s 2-for-3 performance.

The pitching duo of Corrigan and Davison allowed just three hits in the loss but the Belles defense committed three errors behind them.

Saint Mary’s plays two more on Tuesday as they face St. Joseph College (Maine) in the morning before taking on Wisconsin Lutheran in the afternoon.
