Saint Mary’s Sweeps Two Games
FORT MYERS, FL – The Saint Mary’s softball team posted their second consecutive doubleheader sweep by knocking off Eastern 7-1 in the opener and then stopped DeSales 4-2 in the second game. Yesterday the Belles posted a pair of wins over Wisconsin Lutheran and St. Joseph College of Maine.
Saint Mary’s record now stands at 6-2 with two games left during their 10-game, five-day spring break trip.
During the win over Eastern the Belles got another stellar pitching effort from Calli Davison. The sophomore tossed a two-hitter and struck out two. In addition to her prowess on the mound, Davison went 1-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored while driving in another.
Ashley Fusaro drove in two runs and scored one as well during her 1-for-2 performance at the plate. Katie Rashid smacked a double and drove in two runs to aid in the Belles cause.
In the win over DeSales Maureen Healy posted a strong offensive effort, going 3-for-4 and scoring two runs. On her 20th birthday, Ashley Peterson went 2-for-3 with 3 RBI’s.
McKenna Corrigan went seven innings on the mound and scattered five hits to pick up her first win of the season.
The Belles conclude their spring break schedule on Thursday with games against Worcester Polytechnic Institute and Dominican.
