Saint Mary’s, Rose-Hulman Split Doubleheader

TERRE HAUTE, IN – During softball action on Sunday afternoon Rose-Hulman won the first game 10-4 but Saint Mary’s responded with a 4-2 victory in the second game.

Saint Mary’s record now stands at 13-3 while Rose-Hulman moves to 13-3 as well.

In the opener the Engineers banged out 15 hits and put the game away with a seven run fifth inning. During that critical inning, Rose-Hulman sent 12 players to the plate.

McKenna Corrigan went 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBI’s and a run scored. Ashley Fusaro also posted a multi-hit game with a 2-for-3 effort.

During the nightcap the Belles broke a 2-2 tie by scoring a run in the fifth and seventh inning. Sarah Montelongo posted the winning hit with a single that scored Ashley Peterson.

Peterson had a stellar game at the plate, going 3-for-3 with three runs scored in addition to posting an RBI. The sophomore hit her first homerun of the year to aid in the winning cause.

Corrigan upped her record on the mound to 6-0 by scattering eight hits in seven innings.
