2008-09 MIAA Academic Honors
Student-Athletes and Teams Earn MIAA Academic Honors
ROYAL OAK, Mich. - 51 Saint Mary's student-athletes were among the numerous honorees named to the 2008-09 MIAA Academic Honor Roll as announced by the conference office.
In order to receive the honor, a student-athlete must achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above for the entire academic year and be a member of one of the College's varsity athletic teams. It is the fourth time that over 50 student-athletes have been named to the list since Saint Mary's joined the MIAA in 1997. It is also the seventh consecutive year that more than 40 athletes from Saint Mary's have earned the honor.
Four student-athletes earned the honor each of their four years as a Saint Mary's student-athlete. Caitlin Brodmerkel (cross country), Meghan Conaty (basketball), Katie Rashid (basketball and softball), and Caitlin Stevenson (cross country) were among 73 student-athletes in the MIAA to be named to the list four consecutive times.
Also announced by the league office were the 2008-09 Team GPA Honorees. The cross country, soccer, and volleyball teams each earned the honor this season by achieving a team GPA of 3.300 for the entire academic year.
Each of the College's eight varsity teams maintained at least a 3.000 cumulative GPA for the entire 2008-09 academic year.
