Belles Fall to Flying Dutch

HOLLAND, Mich. - The #3/#6 Hope College Flying Dutch jumped out to a quick lead and the Belles were unable to recover as the Saint Mary's College basketball team suffered an 84-59 loss at DeVos Fieldhouse on Saturday.

Hope took advantage of second chance opportunities early to build their lead.  In the first half, the Flying Dutch scored 20 second chance points.  For the game, Hope out-rebounded the Belles by a 57-45 margin and finished with 30 second chance points.

Jessica Centa came off of the bench for a breakthrough offensive performance.  The freshman was 4-of-5 from the floor and 4-of-5 from the free throw line for a team-high 12 points.  Anna Kammrath added 11 points of her own while Erin Newsom rounded out the double-digit scorers for Saint Mary's with 10 points.

The Belles (11-8, 9-2 MIAA) drop into second place in the MIAA with the loss.  Saint Mary's will look to get back to their winning ways when they return to Angela Athletic Facility to host Olivet College on Wednesday, February 4 for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
