Belles Defeat Hornets in Regular Season Finale

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Saint Mary's College basketball team wrapped up the regular season with a 77-47 win over Kalamazoo for the team's 15th win of the year and 13th MIAA victory this season.

After the Hornets scored the first basket of the game, the Belles rattled off 10 straight points to take control of the game. Saint Mary's capitalized on Kalamazoo miscues by outscoring the Hornets 29-17 in points off of turnovers. The bench players for the Belles also had a big impact on the outcome of the game as Saint Mary's outscored Kalamazoo 45-10 in bench points.

Leading the Belles' balanced offensive attack was Kelley Murphy, who had a team-high 14 points. Jessica Centa added 12 points off of the bench for the Belles. Erin Newsom and Anna Kammrath also notched 10 points to round out the high-scorers for Saint Mary's.

With the win, the Belles have equaled the most wins ever in a season by a Saint Mary's basketball team since the College began intercollegiate basketball in 1978. Having finished the regular season in second in the MIAA, the Belles will host a first round game of the MIAA Tournament this Tuesday evening when the Adrian College Bulldogs come to Angela Athletic Facility for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
