Late Run Lifts Spartans Past Belles

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. -- In a game that had six ties and seven lead changes, the Saint Mary's basketball team fell short at Manchester College by a 70-66 margin.
After being tied 30-30 at the half, Manchester went on a 15-4 run to get an 11 point lead less than four minutes into the second half. The Belles immediately responded with a 20-2 spurt of their own to turn the tide and take a seven point lead midway through the half.
The Belles would keep the lead until late in the contest when Manchester College used an 11-0 run over the final 3:03 of the half to take the 70-66 win.
Erin Newsom led the Belles with her fourth double-double of the season. The senior forward had 14 points and 12 rebounds in the game. Kelley Murphy had a break-out game with a season-high 13 points, with eight of those points coming in the second half. Anna Kammrath, Patsy Mahoney, and Maggie Ronan each added 10 points for the Belles in the loss.
