Belles Finish Second at Southwestern Invitational
GEORGETOWN, Texas - Mary Kate Boyce shot the lowest round of the day for all golfers in the event with a 77 as the #21 Saint Mary's College golf team finished second with a 689 (350-339) at the Southwestern Invitational at the Berry Creek Golf Course.
The host Pirates, ranked #13 nationally, claimed the title with a combined score of 657 (325-332) in the two day event.
Boyce's 77 was the lowest one day performance of the invitational as the sophomore finished second overall with a combined score of 163. Southwestern's Emily Bartholet earned top honors at the tournament with a two day total of 160. Natalie Matuszak, who had the lowest round after day one, finished in a tie for seventh with a combined 169 stroke total.
Rosie O'Connor cut ten strokes off of her total from yesterday for an 84 today to finish tied for 17th with a 178. Christine Brown and Perri Hamma both fired rounds of 89 in day two. Brown finished with 180 in two days to tie for 19th while Hamma had a combined score of 183 for a share of 27th.
Meredith Fantom carded a two day total of 176 (87-89) to tie for 14th while competing as an individual.
The Belles will next compete at the Trine University Invitational in Angola, Ind. next weekend. The two day event takes place on April 4 and 5 at Zollner Golf Course on the campus of Trine University.
