Belles Edge Bobcats on Training Trip

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. - The Saint Mary's College swimming team used a come-from-behind effort to take a dual meet victory over Bates College (Maine) on the team's winter training trip.

Eva Cavadini had strong performances in the 200 yd freestyle and 100 yd butterfly.  The freshman earned a tie for first in the 200 free with a 2:02.5 and was the top finisher in the 100 fly with a time of 1:03.1.  Classmate Audrey Dalrymple finished first in the 100 yd breaststoke with a time of 1:10.2 and took second in the 200 yd IM (2:20.6).

The Bobcats took a point lead early in the 11 event meet.  With one event to go, the Belles trailed the Bobcats 99.5-88.5.  In the 200 freestyle relay, the Belles took the top two spots with times of 1:47.1 (Barbara Beidler, Caroline Arness, Katie Donovan, Meredith Lierz) and 1:48.8 (Lindsey Nelis, Mary Kate Daday, Megan Price, Melissa Gerbeth).  With those finishes, Saint Mary's finished with 103.5 to Bates' 101.5.

The Belles return to regular season action this Saturday when they host #8 CSCAA Hope College at Rolfs Aquatic Center beginning at 6:00 p.m.
