Belles Bow to Lady Terriers at Case Western
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A pair of late goals propelled Hiram College past the Saint Mary's College soccer team on Sunday morning at day two of the Case Western Reserve Tournament.
The Belles gained the early momentum by striking first. Freshman Taylor Paton scored her first-career goal on an unassisted effort in the eleventh minute of the game.
The Lady Terriers would tie the game at 1-1 at the 29:30 mark in the first period. The game remained knotted at one goal each until the 83rd minute when Hiram got the game-winner from Grace Heffernan. Less than three minutes later, the Lady Terriers added an insurance goal to make the score 3-1.
Patty Duffy played all 90 minutes in goal while making 10 saves for the Belles.
The Belles (2-0) will take to the road again as they travel to North Manchester, Ind. to take on the Manchester College Spartans on Wednesday, September 3. Kick-off is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
