Day Two Brings Two More Wins for Belles in Florida

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Saint Mary's softball team picked right up where they left off yesterday by claiming two more victories in the Sunshine State.

In a 5-0 win in the first game of the day, the 2-3-4 punch of Maureen Healy, Ashley Peterson, and Ashley Fusaro proved to be too potent for Worcester Polytechnic Institute to handle.  Healy and Peterson both went 3-for-4 in the game while Fusaro had a 2-for-4 effort at the dish.  Peterson scored three times and drove in a pair of runs as she hit her second home run of the week and added a double.  Healy scored twice while Fusaro drove in a run in the win.  Monica Palicki earned her second pitching win in as many appearances, surrendering just two hits and striking out five in seven innings of work.

The offense opened the flood gates in game two of the day as the Belles took an 11-1 win from Wheelock.  Lauren Enayati, Lindsey Thielmann, and Emily Treat each had multi-hit performances in the victory.  Enayati was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored, two RBIs, and a pair of walks.  Thielmann went 3-for-5 on the day with a double and two runs scored.  Treat went 2-for-4 from the dish with a pair of singles.  Angela Gillis picked up her second pitching win for the Belles by allowing just one run and striking out five in six innings of work before Symone Pompey came in at the start of the seventh inning to close out the game.

The Belles (4-0) will now face SUNY Oswego and Fitchburg State on Tuesday afternoon at the Lee County Sports Complex in Fort Myers, Florida.
