SMC vs. Kalamazoo

Belles Fall to Hornets

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Saint Mary's College tennis team fell by an 8-1 margin to MIAA foe Kalamazoo College on Saturday afternoon.

Jillian Hurley and Camille Gebert both played tough doubles and singles matches for the Belles. The duo kept things close at #1 doubles before ultimately falling to their Kalamazoo counterparts by an 8-6 score.

Hurley then had a tough-fought loss at #1 singles. The sophomore bounced back after dropping her first set 7-5 to take a big 6-3 decision in the second set to force the decisive frame. Her comeback bid to take an individual win fell short, however, as she lost the third set 6-3.

Camille Gebert had an impressive day at #2 singles for the Belles to earn the team's only win of the day. The junior took little time to defeat her opponent by claiming the victory 6-1, 6-2.

The Belles (6-8, 1-3 MIAA) will host Trine University on Monday as a make-up match from earlier this season. The match is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
