Biography

Indi Dieckgrafe is a tenured professor at Saint Mary's College where she directs the program in dance within the Department of Communication Studies, Dance and Theatre. She holds a BFA in Dance Performance from Wichita State University and a MFA in Choreography and Performance from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. She danced professionally with the Susan Warden Dancers Inc., The Mid-America Dance Theatre, Illinois Dance Theatre, Kast & Company Liturgical Dancers and Outabounds Performance of Chicago. Dieckgrafe has choreographed and directed dance presentations at the College since 1985. Her choreography has been performed at the American Dance Festival and the festivals of the American College Dance Festival Association where she has also offered master classes and workshops. She has been an invited guest artist at Cottey College, Wheaton College, Contemporary Dance/ Fort Worth and the Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis. Dieckgrafe has been involved with Sacred and Liturgical Dance for over 15 years. She is an active member of the Lake Shore Chapter of the Sacred Dance Guild, having served as chapter representative and president. She currently serves on the National Board of Directors as Chair of the nominating committee. She became a certified leader of "InterPlay" improvisational technique and practice in 1998. As an “InterPlayer, she remains active leading and performing throughout the Great Lakes region. At the College Dieckgrafe has been the recipient of faculty development awards and grants.
