Social Work
254 Spes Unica Hall

Jennifer Bauwens-Byers has a passion for working with children and families. Initially, her focus was on young children. Through a program targeting preschool-aged children, she addressed the emotional and behavioral issues of young children who either had been in abusive situations or who were at-risk. Her work experiences also include a focus on mental health through clinical home-based case management, where she helped school-aged children and their parents meet behavioral goals. Later, she held the position of parent education coordinator. As a forensic interviewer, she interviewed children who had alledgedly been abused or who had potentially been exposed to domestic violence. Most recently, she has broadened her scope to include medical social work and has held social work positions in oncology and in pediatrics.

Her teaching experiences include adjunct positions at Ivy Tech Community College and Indiana University South Bend.
