Centa Named MIAA Co-Player of the Week
ROYAL OAK, Mich. - The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Saint Mary's forward Jessica Centa as one of its Co-Players of the Week in women's basketball for her performances during the week of February 1-6.
Centa, a sophomore from Plymouth, Ind. (Plymouth HS), came off the bench to score 36 points, grab 16 rebounds and add seven steals in leading the Belles to a pair of MIAA victories last week. She had a double-double with 18 points, 10 rebounds and five steals in a 64-62 victory over Adrian, then added 18 points, six rebounds and three assists in 24 minutes of play in a 91-52 win over Kalamazoo. Centa, who is being honored as MIAA Player of the Week for the first time in her career, made 16 of 27 shots (59 percent) from the field for the week.
The sophomore is sharing MIAA Player of the Week honors with Hope College's Carrie Snikkers.
Centa joins Kelley Murphy and Anna Kammrath as the third Saint Mary's basketball player to be named MIAA Player of the Week this season. It is the first time in program history that three different players have been named Player of the Week in the same season for the Belles.
