Murphy Earns MIAA Player of the Week Honor

ROYAL OAK, Mich. - The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Saint Mary's forward Kelley Murphy as its Player of the Week in women's basketball for games played December 6 through December 12.

Murphy, a junior from Olathe, Kan. (Notre Dame de Sion HS), had back-to-back double-doubles in leading the Belles to a pair of MIAA victories last week. She scored 24 points and pulled down 13 rebounds in leading Saint Mary’s to a 72-67 victory over Olivet, then added 14 points and 11 rebounds as the Belles rallied from a nine-point second half deficit to defeat Alma, 70-63. Murphy made 15 of 31 shots (48 percent) from the field and 8 of 10 (80 percent) from the free-throw line. She is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time this season and second time in her career.
