Belles Victorious over Aurora, Head to Finals

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Saint Mary's basketball team defeated Aurora 84-59 in the first game of the North Central College Holiday Inn Select Tip-Off Tournament on Friday.

After the Belles took an 17-7 lead in the first 6:37 of the game, the Spartans rattled off 12 straight points for what would be their only lead of the contest at 19-17 mid way through the first half. Saint Mary's used a pair of free throws by Domini Paradiso and a three pointer by Patsy Mahoney in the last two minutes of the half to push their lead to double-digits with a 44-33 halftime cushion.

The Belles extended their lead to as much as 30 points in the second half on their way to their second win of the season in as many contests. With the win, the Belles earned the right to play in the championship contest of the 2010 Holiday Inn Select Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday evening.

Maggie Ronan led four Belles in double-digit scoring in the win.  The junior tied her career high with 18 points for Saint Mary's. Jessica Centa was a rebound away from a double-double, as she posted 14 points and nine rebounds with three assists. Domini Paradiso, meanwhile, had 13 points while being a perfect 9-9 from the charity stripe. Shanlynn Bias had her second consecutive game with 10 points for the Belles in the win.

The Belles will face off against against the host North Central Cardinals tomorrow in the championship game at 5:00 p.m. CST.
