Interning with the CCO

During the fall and spring semester, students are encouraged to contact the Career Crossings Office about possible internship opportunities with our office.  Most of our internships center around marketing, public relations and event planning; however, other types of internships can be accommodated as well, depending on your internship needs.  Although the internship is unpaid, academic credit may be available.

Marketing, Public Relations and Event Planning Intern Description

This internship is designed to allow a student to increase their knowledge and portfolio of projects related to marketing, public relations, and event planning. This internship is a part-time, unpaid position. The CCO has designated specific projects that are necessary to complete but also allows for the internship to be molded by student interest. The student is expected to work 12-15 hours each week with a combination of in-office and out-of-office hours. During the out-of-office hours, the staff of the CCO will be available for consultation as needed. Most work will be project-based and the intern will be expected to complete projects in a timely manner as arranged. Internship projects will focus on marketing of services, resources, and events as well as a public relations campaign and strategy. The student will be expected to attend some speaking engagements as necessary and comfortable.

Some possible projects may include:

  • Public relations and marketing strategy development
  • Campus press release writing
  • Updating marketing materials
  • Publicizing events and services
