Belles Named USTFCCCA All-Academic Team

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Saint Mary's cross country team is among 167 colleges and universities to be named to the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team list.

Saint Mary's was one of just four Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association teams to earn the academic distinction of All-Academic Team for the 2010 campaign. The Belles had a 3.56 cumulative GPA, which was second-highest among conference constituents. Calvin's 3.57 was the highest, and Saint Mary's was followed by Albion (3.54) and Hope (3.52).

"I'm really proud of how hard our team works in the classroom and on the course," said head coach Jackie Bauters. "It's been a great year. I'm impressed with how they've managed their time to accomplish such high standards. We had an outstanding season in the fall, and this is a true testament to their work ethic in all aspects."

To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.10 or better and have compiled a score (finished at least five runners) at their respective NCAA regional championship.
