Belles Have Solid Showing to Open Season

MARSHALL, Mich. - Saint Mary's had 10 of the top 14 finishes at an unscored tri-meet with Albion and Olivet on Tuesday evening.
Adele Edmonds, Mary Philbin, and Colleen Ogren finished third, fourth, and fifth overall to lead the way for the Belles. Edmonds crossed the finish line in 21:22.09. Philbin and Ogren were within a second of one another with times of 21:36.62 and 21:37.15, respectively.
The Belles also claimed seventh through eleventh places. Anna McClowry posted a 21:54.15 for seventh. Emily Harrast ran a 21:59.47 to take eighth place, and Meghan Allen crossed the line in 22:08.94 for ninth. Colleen Burke turned in a time of 22:11.72 for tenth place, and Sarah Allen ran a 22:15.28 for eleventh.
Kathryn Marshall and Maggie Pacana rounded out the Saint Mary's performances at the event. Marshall was 13th with a time of 22:17.59, and Pacana was 14th with a 22:20.38 in the season-opening race.
The Belles host their annual Alumnae 5k on Saturday at Bertrand Park starting at 11:00 a.m. before competing in the Calvin Knight Invitational on Saturday, September 12.
