Cross Country Outlook
- Six returners and two newcomers make up the Belles squad in 2017.
- Co-captains Anna McClowry and Adele Edmonds will set the pace of the pack.
The Saint Mary’s cross country team continues to be a steady threat in the MIAA and beyond as the Belles forge ahead in 2017. Under the guidance of veteran head coach Jackie Bauters ’04, the team has their sights set on a successful fall season.
Anna McClowry and Adele Edmonds will help pace the squad this fall. McClowry was a top-five finisher for the squad in each race of 2016 while putting up four personal record times. Edmonds was in the top five for Saint Mary’s in nearly every race of her sophomore year and posted two of her three fastest races of the year in the final weeks of the season.
Katie Glenn and Maura Honan each competed in six races a season ago, and the pair both participated in the NCAA Regional Race for the Belles. Fiona Winfrey competed in five events, and Emily Harrast ran in three events a season ago. Shanan Hamilton and KC McQuaid join the team and will hit the trail running for the Belles in 2017.
The team opens the 2017 campaign on Friday, September 1 at the Comet Open hosted by Olivet at 6:00 p.m.
