Ever since I was a little girl, I have always enjoyed helping people. I knew I wanted to do this, but I was not sure how this fit into my life. During my freshman year, I took intro to social work and it opened my eyes to all the possibilities available in the field. As I took more classes, I realized I was extremely interested in many different subfields of social work. Through my courses I was able to discover the many populations social work deals with. I started to uncover my passion for social work. I feel very blessed to have found a field that I am passionate about and that is beneficial to other individuals.

I want to be a social worker because I want to make other peoples lives more enjoyable. Over the years I have realized that the academic courses the Social Work department has to offer fits my goals and values. I want to be of importance when it comes to dealing with challenges other people face. I want to be someone they can count on. I am going to use my social work degree to help improve the lives of others by reaching out to them and comforting them in time of need. To me, success is not measured by the amount of money I make or the title of my job, but rather knowing that I made one person breath easier is success to me.

Ever since I was young I knew I wanted to do something that involved helping people. When I first arrived at college, I started off in nursing. I shortly found out it was not the major for me. I then started thinking about Social Work because my mom is a Social Worker and loves it. After I took my first Social Work class I knew that I was in the right place. The main purpose of the field was helping people and trying to make other people’s lives better. I know that I cannot help every single person in the world, but I would at least want to try and give it my all. I want to be a Social Worker because I want to help as many people as I possibly can.
