Fron Named MIAA Defensive Player of the Week

NOTRE DAME, IN – Whitney Fron was named the MIAA Defensive Player of the Week as the Belles posted a pair of ties last week. Saint Mary’s tallied a 1-1 result against Albion on Tuesday, Sept. 25 then shutout Olivet 0-0 on Saturday, Sept. 29 in their two MIAA games last week.

Fron helped hold the opposition to 16 total shots on goal while allowing just that one goal in the tie against Albion.

For the season, the Belles rank in the top 50 nationally in goals against average, giving up 0.56 goals a game. In addition, Saint Mary’s has notched six shutouts which also ranks among the top 50 in the country in total shutouts.

Individually the native of Sterling Heights, MI. has started every game for the Belles. She has one goal on the season when she scored the game winner in the season opener against Case Western Reserve.

Saint Mary’s is 5-1-4 overall and 1-0-2 in MIAA play. They will host fellow league member Hope at Noon on Saturday afternoon.
