Belles Finish Fourth at IWU Spring Fling
NORMAL, Ill. - The #5 Saint Mary's golf team finished in fourth place at the Illinois Wesleyan Spring Fling after shooting a 325 for a two-round total of 660 on the weekend.
DePauw won the tournament with a two-day total of 630. The Tigers' Taylor Beaty was the medalist with a 149 (74-75).
Natalie Matsuzak cut five strokes off of her Saturday score as she carded a 77 on Sunday to tie for ninth place overall with a 159. Rosie O'Connor was just two strokes behind Matuszak's total for the weekend as she finished with a 161 after shooting an 83 (t-14th).
Mary Kate Boyce and Perri Hamma both took made improvements on day two by turning in better scores than they did on Saturday. Boyce shot an 81 after having an 83 yesterday to finish with a score of 164 for 21nd place. Hamma cut six strokes off of Saturday's score as she shot an 86 to finish tied for 63rd with a total of 178.
The Belles will wrap up their regular season with a big weekend next weekend. Saint Mary's will host the final two MIAA NCAA qualifying rounds on Friday and Saturday with the conference's automatic qualifying bid to the Division III Championships up for grabs. Friday's round will be played at Blackthorn Golf Club while Saturday's round will be at the University of Notre Dame's Warren Golf Course.
