Belles Defeat Thunder in Dual

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The #5 nationally ranked Saint Mary's golf team defeated Trine University in a golf dual at the South Bend Country Club by a 353-398 margin on Saturday afternoon.

Leading the way for the Belles was junior Rosie O'Connor, who shot an 84 on the day on the par 75 course to take top honors at the event.  Teammates Natalie Matuszak and Mary Kate Boyce were not far behind as Matuszak shot an 87 and Boyce added an 88 as Saint Mary's claimed the top three individual performances.

Perri Hamma rounded out the scoring for the Belles with a 94 on the afternoon.  Christine Brown had a 103 for the Belles' fifth scoring-eligible golfer.  Cara Kielty had a strong day on the long, 5883 yard course as she finished with the fifth-best score of the day by carding a 92 as she played as an individual.  Megan Ryan, also playing as an individual, finished the day with a 102.

The Belles and the Thunder will play another dual match tomorrow at Zollner Golf Course on the campus of Trine University beginning at noon.
