Belles Down Thunder in Second Straight Dual
ANGOLA, Ind. - The #5 nationally ranked Saint Mary's golf team defeated fellow MIAA member Trine at Zollner Golf Course in the second dual of the weekend between the teams.
The Belles shot a 321 to finish 22 strokes better than the Thunder's 343 on Trine's home course.
Mary Kate Boyce had a big day for the Belles as she fired a 74 to finish with the best score of the day. Rosie O'Connor continued a strong weekend as well for Saint Mary's as she finished second with a 79 on the afternoon.
Perri Hamma, meanwhile, tied for third after turning in the second-best round on the back nine with a 39 to finish with an 83. Natalie Matuszak rounded out the scoring four for Saint Mary's as she turned in an 85. Cara Kielty was the fifth team golfer for the Belles on Sunday and finished with an 89.
Christine Brown and Megan Ryan both played as individuals at Zollner. Brown carded an 84 while Ryan shot an 89 in an all-around strong day for the Belles.
The Belles will now look to put themselves in a strong position to earn the conference's automatic qualifying bid for the NCAA Championships when they head to the first of three MIAA NCAA Qualifying rounds this week. The first round is hosted by Olivet at the Medalist Golf Club in Marshall, Michigan, on Wednesday, April 14 beginning at 12:00 p.m.
