Belles Take Second at Trine Invitational
ANGOLA, Ind. - The Saint Mary's College golf team took second place at the Trine Fall Invitational with a two-round score of 645, edging Illinois Wesleyan by seven strokes.
Division II powerhouse University of Indianapolis took top honors with a two day total of 621. The Greyhounds' Lyndsay McBride, who won the 2009 Division II Individual Championship, earned medalist honors with a 148 (75-73).
Martyna Mierzwa continued her hot start to the season with a 79 on day two to finish in a tie for third place with a 155. Mary Kate Boyce was not far behind, shooting an 81 for a 160 and ninth place finish on the weekend.
Natalie Matuszak shot a second-consecutive round of 82 to finish in a tie for 11th with a 164. Rosie O'Connor shaved a pair of strokes off of her Saturday outing and carded an 82 to finish 13th (166). Christine Brown, meanwhile, made a four-stroke improvement on day two by shooting an 85 to finish with a share of 20th (174).
Perri Hamma (172, 17), Andrea Fritsch (175, 22), Cara Kielty (181, 25), Michelle Hird (172, 26), and Megan Ryan (185, t-27) all played as individuals again for the Belles on Sunday.
