Belles Tie Comets for Second in Spring Opener

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The #3 Saint Mary's golf team tied conference foe and #10 ranked Olivet for second in a tri-match on Friday.

The tri-match was hosted and won by Methodist University's junior varsity team.  The Monarchs shot a 331 while the Belles and the Comets both turned in rounds of 347.

The Belles were led by Natalie Matuszak, who fired a 79 and earned medalist honors in the team's first event of the spring season.  Mary Kate Boyce and Rosie O'Connor were both close behind Matuszak as Boyce shot an 86 while O'Connor carded an 89.  Christine Brown shot a 93 for the top-scoring four for the Belles.  Perri Hamma had a 101 as the Belles' fifth eligible scoring player.

Megan Ryan added a 91 and Cara Kielty had a 95 as the pair played as individuals for Saint Mary's.

The Belles are slated to play in a couple of weeks in the Southwestern University (Texas) Invitational.
