SMC at George Fox Invitational - Day Two
Belles Finish Second at George Fox Spring Invite
PEORIA, Ariz. - The #10 Saint Mary's golf team shot a respectable 321 on Saturday, but the host Bruins continued to be hot in Arizona as #13 George Fox won their spring invitational with a 308 in the second day of the tournament.
The Bruins followed up yesterday's 308 with a matching 308 (616) for the first place finish. The Belles finished second with a two-day total of 623 (302-321) at the event.
Mary Kate Boyce took medalist honors at the tournament with a day-two score of 76. Along with her school-record 66 on Friday, the senior finished with a 36-hole score of 142 for another new school record for a two-round performance at a tournament. The previous record was 148 set by Stefanie Simmerman in April 2004 at the Illinois Wesleyan Spring Fling Tournament.
Natalie Matuszak carded an 81 for Saint Mary's on day two to finish with a 160 (79-81) at the tournament. Marin Beagley and Rosie O'Connor both turned in rounds of 82 for the 321 team total for the Belles. Doyle O'Brien rounded out the top five for the Belles with a score of 85 at the Westbrook Village Golf Course’s Lakes Course.
The Belles will have a couple of weeks before their next tournament. Saint Mary's will travel to Georgetown, Texas, to play in Southwestern University's spring invitational April 4-5.
