Belles Finish Second But Continue to Hold Lead

BEDFORD, Mich. - The seventh ranked Saint Mary's golf team finished second at the first day of the MIAA Championships on Friday with a score of 323.
Olivet finished first with a 321 while the Comets' Abby Wheeler had the low round of the day with a 75.
Saint Mary's holds a 22 stroke lead over Olivet in the conference standings that will determine the MIAA champion. Mary Kate Boyce had the Belles' low round of the day with a 77 to finish in second while Doyle O'Brien had her first sub-80 round of the collegiate career with a 79 and third place on Friday.
Rosie O'Connor fired an 83 to take a share of ninth place while Marin Beagley was just one stroke behind with an 84 (11th) to wrap up the 323. Paige Pollak was the fifth scoring-eligible golfer for Saint Mary's and carded an 89 (t-21st).
The two-day championship tournament concludes tomorrow at Bedford Valley Golf Course in Bedford, Michigan.
