Belles Finish Second at Opening MIAA Jamboree
ALMA, Mich - The fifth-ranked Saint Mary's golf team finished in second place behind #12 ranked Olivet at the first MIAA Jamboree of the 2010 season.
The Comets finished first with a 331 and the Belles were just four strokes behind with a 335 on the afternoon. Olivet's Lauren Campbell was the lone golfer in the 70s as she shot a 76 for medalist honors at Pine River Country Club.
Mary Kate Boyce and Marin Beagley shot the low rounds of the day for Saint Mary's as the pair tied four other golfers for second place with scores of 83. Rosie O'Connor was one stroke behind that pack with an 84, which was good enough for eighth overall. Consistency was the name of the game for Saint Mary's on Saturday as Doyle O'Brien was a single stroke behind O'Connor with an 85 for a share of ninth. Paige Pollak rounded out the top five for the Belles with an 88 (t-15th).
The Belles will travel to Grand Rapids, Michigan, on Tuesday for the second of four MIAA Jamborees. Tuesday's round will be hosted by Calvin at the Thornapple Pointe Golf Club and is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
