SMC at MIAA Jamboree #2
Boyce, Belles Set Course Records
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The #5 ranked Saint Mary's golf team set a new MIAA course record at Thornapple Pointe in the second MIAA Jamboree hosted by Calvin.
The Belles fired a 321 on the afternoon, which was six strokes better than the 327 shot by Olivet in 2008. Olivet finished second behind Saint Mary's with a 331.
Leading the field on Tuesday was the Belles' Mary Kate Boyce. The senior tied the course record for Thornapple Pointe in conference play with a 78, which matches three other golfers. The score also earned Boyce medalist honors Tuesday.
Marin Beagley, Rosie O'Connor, and Paige Pollak all tied for third place overall with rounds of 81 to wrap up first place for the Belles. Doyle O'Brien was the fifth scoring-eligible golfer for Saint Mary's and shot a 91 (t-18th).
Christine Brown (87 - t12th), Alexi Bown (93 - t27th), and Megan Ryan (94 - t32nd) all played as individuals for Saint Mary's.
The Belles next will host the O'Brien National Invitational on Sunday and Monday at the Warren Golf Course with the top finishers from last year's NCAA Division III Championship.
